Using dental veneers to cover imperfections on the front teeth

At Gomez Family Dentistry of Pensacola, Florida, Drs. Gina and Christopher Gomez are excited to provide patients with a wide range of restorative and cosmetic procedures to enhance their smiles. With specific types of restorations, such as dental veneers, patients can address imperfections that are present on the teeth at the front of the smile.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are very thin shells of tooth-colored material designed to cover the front surface of teeth. They are used to improve the appearance of teeth and can help restore a beautiful smile.

What materials are typically used to make dental veneers, and what can they fix?

Veneers are made from porcelain or composite resin materials and can be used to correct discoloration, chips, cracks, gaps, misalignments, and other cosmetic issues with your teeth.

What happens during the process?

The process involves minimal enamel removal in order to place the custom-made veneer securely on top of your existing teeth. Impressions are taken and sent to an outside laboratory to fabricate a restoration that matches your natural smile. For patients considering composite veneers, these can be applied in a single appointment. However, the composite resin is susceptible to staining, which means that these veneers will need to be replaced more often.

How long will my new smile last?

With proper care and routine maintenance, porcelain veneers can last for many years without needing replacement or repair.

With cosmetic veneers, you will have a more confident and beautiful smile!

Veneers

Veneers are thin handcrafted porcelain shields worn on the front of the tooth which improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, cracked, stained or worn. Veneers are thin as contact lenses, and are an aesthetically pleasing option of closing gaps, lengthening teeth, and providing symmetry to make your smile more natural. Veneers are intended to last for many years without changing color. They are one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in dentistry. Ask your dentist if veneers may be right for you.
